Good evening gentle reader,
I have had the pleasure of being in Fort Mill a lot more lately and I wanted to share some things I love about this charming city with you. This is by no means an exhaustive list, and there’s so much more to Fort Mill than meets the eye. I even adore all of the trains that go by on Railroad Avenue, but that’s another article for another day. For now, let’s get into some of the places that I really love in Fort Mill, and what they have to offer!
- Buy The Bunch (Florist) – Located on 103 Railroad Ave, this wonderful florist shop is cared for and cultivated by a sweet lady named Fredda who has over thirty years of experience with floral art and design. This cute and cozy shop has stunning arrangements and yes – she can even help decorate your wedding or upcoming special occasion. I’ve also purchased live plants from her, and she has a great variety, including hydrangeas and begonias. She’ll even help pot it for you and can add moss, to give it that special touch. Her shop can be reached at (803)547-5996 and help is just a click away on her website.
- Baxter Village – Incredibly beautiful and tranquil, Baxter Village has over 250,000 square feet of shops, offices, and eateries. Ultimately completed in 2014, this tranquil and vibrant community has just under 1500 homes. It feels a lot like a small town, and I oftentimes forget I’m in Fort Mill, since it reminds me a lot of Charleston, in that the streets are tree-lined and it’s very easy to get around. The Fort Mill Public Library is also nestled within this village on 1818 Second Baxter Crossing. You can learn more about Baxter Village’s design process from the geniuses at LandDesign here.
- Hobo’s (Restaurant) – The food, service, and atmosphere are all great! I love their salmon salad (I ordered mine done medium and it was so flaky and flavorful) and they have amazing burgers! I recommend stopping by around lunchtime, and they offer indoor and outdoor seating. Simply put, Hobo’s is American cuisine done right. They’re located 213 Main St. They can be reached at (803)548-4626 and you can see their menu online here.
- Veterans Park – Seeing what Veterans Park was able to do for our veterans, especially on Veterans Day, is amazing. They had a firetruck lifting the American flag and it felt very solemn and respectful. It touched my spirit, and the entire community came out to recognize those that serve our country. This park is located on 106 N White St, and the Fort Mill Farmers and Artisan Market is also there May through October.
- Ilio’s Crafted Greek (Restaurant) – I love the speed and quality of service here, the atmosphere, and just how fresh and delicious the food is at this restaurant. Their pita bread is wonderfully soft and goes well with their mouthwatering homemade hummus! There are so many options to choose from, whether you want to build your own gyro or bowl for lunch or even have an event at your office where they cater, you can enjoy authentic Greek food no matter the occasion. They are located on 951 Market Street in Baxter Village and you can see their menu online here.
